Norden Estates demonstrates system solution that halves energy use – Postpac Skurup cuts CO2 emissions by 90%
Norden Estates AB (the “Company”) presents the results after two years of operation of the Postpac logistics facility in Skurup – a 25,000 m² warehouse and logistics building where the Company was responsible for the design and installation of the energy system, acting as the energy partner to the main contractor.
After two years of verified operation at Postpac’s logistics facility in Skurup, Norden Estates has proven that the energy standard of the future is already achievable. The 25,000 m² property has been developed using Norden Estates’ system solution and shows a total energy consumption approximately 60 per cent lower than the requirements of the Swedish building code – one of the most stringent in Europe.
This corresponds to an annual electricity saving of around 800,000 kWh, reducing operating costs by approximately SEK 1 million per year, while keeping the same overall investment level as conventional technology.
In the project, Norden Estates acted as energy partner to the main contractor, responsible for design and installation of the energy system. The solution combines heating, cooling and ventilation into a single low-temperature network with thermal energy storage integrated into the building structure.
– “This is proof that the energy requirements of the future can already be met at full scale. We demonstrate that energy efficiency, operational reliability and profitability can coexist in real operation – not just in theory,” says Mikael Modig, CEO of Norden Estates AB.
– “The system has been stable from day one, and we see clear results in both energy costs and indoor climate. As a 3PL company, operational reliability is crucial – and here we have achieved exactly what we hoped for,” says Naomi Bergman, Business Manager at Postpac AB.
The results show that Norden Estates already exceeds the performance levels expected under the forthcoming EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD 2035–2050).
The company is now applying the same system solution in new logistics, industrial and residential projects – aiming to accelerate the energy transition of the property sector, combining strong environmental results with proven financial returns.
