Company Announcement No. 23 - 2025
This announcement contains inside information
Donkey Republic has been awarded a long-term contract by the Regionalverband Ruhr to operate an ambitious bike-sharing system comprising 5,766 bicycles across the Ruhr region in Germany. The contract has a duration of approximately five years and is anticipated to generate around DKK 150 million in revenue over the contract period, including fixed contract payments, B2B revenue, and rider revenue.
The Ruhr region is a polycentric and closely networked region in Germany. With this contract award, Donkey Republic significantly strengthens its position in the German market by expanding its portfolio to include the Ruhr region, alongside its existing bike-sharing systems in Hannover and the Kiel Region, as well as the recently secured Düsseldorf project.
The contract award aligns with Donkey Republic’s strategy “Ride and do well”, launched in Q3 2025, and supports the company’s ambition to become the most trusted micromobility partner for European cities.
CEO Thor Möger Pedersen comments:
“The Ruhr project represents a significant step for Donkey Republic and serves as an important growth lever in our strategically important German market. We look forward to rolling out and operating the new bike-sharing system in close partnership with our new stakeholders and to improving green urban mobility in cities such as Dortmund, Bochum, Duisburg, Essen and Lünen.”
The awarded contract marks a key milestone in Donkey Republic’s progress toward its mid-term ambition of operating a fleet of 30,000–35,000 units and achieving revenue of DKK 220–270 million by the end of 2027. Following the contract award, the company will proceed with securing financing for fleet investments and is currently in advanced discussions with investors and lenders.
