SENS signs agreement regarding sales of 85 MW BESS project in Pyhäsalmi, Finland
Sustainable Energy Solutions Sweden Holding AB ("SENS") announces that SENS, together with its Finnish partner, Dovre Group Oyj, has signed a share purchase agreement regarding the sale of the 85 MW / 170 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Pyhäsalmi, Finland. The buyer is a Frankfurt-based infrastructure investor. Through the deal, the investor acquires 100% of the shares in the project company (SPV). Closing will take place during Q1 2026 subject to the fullfilment of certain conditions precedent.
“This transaction is a clear validation of our long-term development efforts and marks a breakthrough for SENS as a project developer. The Pyhäsalmi BESS project is one of the largest and most mature assets in our portfolio, and the agreement demonstrates that our projects can attract strong international investors. The deal significantly strengthens our financial position and enables us to accelerate the development of additional key projects,” says Anders Björkenbo, CEO of SENS.
The BESS project in Pyhäsalmi is part of a broader energy cluster currently under development by SENS. The project has a ready-to-build status and is designed to deliver capacity for both frequency regulation and arbitrage markets in Finland. With a total storage capacity of 170 MWh, the facility will contribute to balancing the grid and enhancing system flexibility.
The buyer, a Frankfurt-based infrastructure investor with approximately EUR 2 billion in assets under management and a strong track record in the Nordic energy sector, has acquired full ownership of the designated project company.
While the parties have agreed not to disclose the total order value, it can be noted that the scale of the transaction is significant for SENS, creating a clear contribution to both liquidity and future investment capacity. The transaction will be recognized as revenue in the first quarter of 2026.
