M-Tech Innovations receives VISA certification for India’s first biometric payment card powered by FPC technology
Pune, India & Gothenburg, Sweden – November 13, 2025 – M-Tech Innovations Ltd. has become the first company in India to receive VISA certification for a locally manufactured biometric payment card, built using Infineon’s security chip and FPC’s fingerprint sensor technology. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the evolution of secure digital payments in India and supports the Government of India’s “Make in India” initiative.
The certified biometric payment card allows users to authenticate payments simply by placing a finger on the sensor embedded in the card—eliminating the need to remember PINs or rely on one-time passwords (OTPs). This innovation offers a seamless, secure, and user-friendly payment experience while meeting the Reserve Bank of India’s upcoming two-factor authentication (2FA) requirements for card-based transactions, set to take effect in April 2026.
With VISA certification now secured, M-Tech plans to progress and ramp up engagement with banks and fintech partners for Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects in early 2026. Following successful trials, M-Tech aims to scale production and launch full commercial rollouts later in the year. The company will also conduct awareness campaigns to highlight the benefits of biometric payment cards for financial institutions and end users alike.
By integrating FPC’s high-performance fingerprint sensor into India’s first VISA-certified biometric payment card, FPC strengthens its position as a trusted global provider of biometric technology and marks an important step into the rapidly growing Indian payments market.
Adam Philpott, CEO of FPC, comments:
“We are proud to partner with M-Tech in bringing India’s first VISA-certified biometric payment card to life.
