Rejlers supports capacity expansion at pharmaceutical facility in Finland
Rejlers has been appointed as engineering partner for a major upgrade of a production facility operated by Fermion in Hanko, Finland. The project will transform an unused production unit into a modern facility compliant with current pharmaceutical manufacturing standards.
The upgrade covers one of the site’s four production units and will significantly increase Fermion’s capacity to meet growing global demand for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The engineering phase commenced in early 2026 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Rejlers’ scope includes process, piping and layout design, as well as electrical, instrumentation and equipment engineering. The assignment also covers structural engineering related to process drainage and steel structures.
The project will be delivered in line with strict pharmaceutical industry requirements, including safety and risk management standards such as HAZOP and ATEX, ensuring high levels of quality, safety and operational efficiency.

Rejlers has previously supported the project through an updated pre-engineering phase, forming the basis for the current work.
Fermion is a Finland-based manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients and a subsidiary of Orion Corporation, a Nordic pharmaceutical company. Fermion supplies APIs both for Orion’s own products and to international pharmaceutical companies. The Hanko facility produces several hundred tonnes of APIs annually, and the upgrade will further strengthen capacity, particularly for ingredients used in prostate cancer treatments.
